Common Abnormal Conditions and Their Handling for Oil Mist Separators

Oil mist separators are an important piece of equipment in industrial production. They make sure that machines are working normally and improve conditions in the workshop. However, they may sometimes experience some problems when used for a long time. Timely and accurate handling of these abnormalities can ensure their efficient and stable operation.

I. Severe Oil Accumulation in the Post-Filter

Oil accumulation in the post-filter is one of the most common issues with oil mist separators. A few possible reasons for this include: Firstly, the post-filter may have broken, reducing its effectiveness and preventing proper oil separation. Secondly, if there isn’t enough oil mist and moisture in the workplace, the filters before the post-filter may fail. This would allow dirty oil mist to enter the post-filter. Additionally, failure of the preceding filters can also cause this issue.

If there is a lot of oil in the rear filter, remove the rear filter and clean it. This will remove the oil from the surface and inside the filter. If normal functionality cannot be restored after cleaning, the rear filter must be replaced promptly. Additionally, limit the content of oil particles and moisture in the gas by optimizing production processes at the source to reduce oil mist generation. Furthermore, carefully inspect the preceding filter to check for blockages, damage, or other issues. If any are found, promptly clean or replace the faulty components.

II. Insufficient oil accumulation at the bottom of the tank

Insufficient oil accumulation at the bottom of the tank primarily stems from two causes. First, failure to promptly clean the accumulated oil at the bottom of the tank may lead to prolonged accumulation, potentially causing oil degradation or other issues. Second, blockage of the oil outlet may prevent normal drainage of accumulated oil.

If there is not enough oil at the bottom of the tank, clean the oil mist separator regularly and empty the oil at the right times. Check the oil outlet for anything that might be blocking it. If you find blockages, clear them with the right tools. You can also repair or replace the oil outlet to make sure that oil drains away easily.

III. Severe accumulation of oil mist and moisture in the inner cavity

Excess oil mist and moisture in the inner cavity can prevent the oil mist separator from working properly. Uneven pipe surfaces can cause oil mist and moisture to stick to the walls. High levels of tiny impurities in the gas can also make oil mist and moisture stick to the pipe.

To address oil smoke and moisture accumulation, smooth the inner cavity using grinding or coating. Shut down the equipment regularly for cleaning to remove oil smoke and moisture. This prevents accumulation that could damage the equipment.

Operators should monitor the oil mist separator’s status and perform regular inspections. If any abnormal conditions are detected, take prompt action to maintain performance and lifespan. This ensures smooth operation of industrial production.
