CNC Vertical Machining Center Regular Maintenance Recommendations to Share

Technical Principles and Process Characteristics of Mill-Turn Machines

The CNC vertical machining center is a highly automated, multifunctional machine tool. It uses CNC technology and precision machining to achieve micron-level or even submicron-level precision.

Equipped with a tool magazine and automatic tool changer, it can automatically select and change tools based on different processes. After clamping the workpiece, the system completes the machining of multiple surfaces sequentially.

I. Daily Inspection

Cleaning: At the end of each day or shift, clean both the inside and outside of the machine tool. Focus on key parts like the guide rail and screw to prevent swarf and oil buildup, which could affect accuracy and the tool’s lifespan.

Lubrication Check: Ensure each lubrication point receives sufficient oil, such as the guide rail and spindle box. Lack of lubrication leads to increased wear and affects equipment performance.

Cooling System Check: Verify the coolant’s quantity and quality. Replenish or replace it promptly to avoid overheating, which could damage the tool or deform the workpiece.

II. Weekly/Monthly Maintenance

Electrical System Check: Tighten the electrical cabinet terminals weekly to prevent poor contact caused by looseness. Inspect cables for breaks and repair or replace them as needed.

Transmission Component Maintenance: Inspect ball screws, linear guides, and other components monthly. Add special lubrication grease where necessary to ensure smooth operation.

Tool Magazine and Tool Changer: Regularly clean the tool magazine’s internal dust. Check the clamping force and adjust or replace worn tool sleeves to ensure a safe and reliable tool changing process.

III. Quarterly/Annual In-depth Maintenance

Precision Calibration: Perform a geometric accuracy test and adjustment based on production needs every quarter or half-year. This includes checking positioning and repeat positioning accuracy. If necessary, invite technical experts for assistance.

Hydraulic System Maintenance: For models with hydraulic systems, clean the oil tank, replace the hydraulic oil, and check the condition of the hydraulic pump and valve body annually to prevent potential issues.

Software Update and Backup: Regularly check the CNC system’s version. Upgrade it when necessary for improved functionality. Also, back up important parameters and program files to avoid data loss.

Conclusion

By strictly following the above maintenance measures, CNC vertical machining center can extend their service life, enhance processing efficiency and product quality, and reduce unplanned downtime. This proactive approach creates greater value for the enterprise. Therefore, cultivating good maintenance habits is an essential professional quality for operators.
