Structural Composition of the Drilling Power Head

Control System

The feed motion of the pneumatic Drilling Power Head uses compressed air as its power source. Its pneumatic control system includes a two-position five-way valve, motor valve, manual valves, throttle valves, and external control ports. This compact setup supports manual and remote operation, along with signal protection for positioning and reset functions. Rapid traverse and working strokes can be continuously adjusted via stop blocks, ensuring flexibility in operation.

Main Drive

The main motion is powered by a three-phase asynchronous motor. Torque is transmitted to the spindle through a synchronous toothed belt and splined shaft. Spindle speeds can be varied by changing belt pulleys. With high output power and torque, the motor-driven system offers excellent speed characteristics, making the Drilling Power Head suitable for multi-axis drilling and large-diameter hole machining.

Feed Motion

Compressed air powers the feed motion, offering advantages such as rapid response, simple structure, compact size, stepless speed regulation, and long operational life. However, due to air compressibility, motion stability can decline under load variations. To ensure stability, a hydraulic speed regulator controls feed speed, while exhaust throttle valves regulate rapid advance and retreat speeds.

Multifunctional Applications

A drilling rig equipped with a Drilling Power Head often includes detachable dual-power-head systems, a crawler-mounted frame, and a hydraulic-electrical control system. Combined with tools like casing augers and down-the-hole hammers, it supports multi-purpose construction. This setup is especially effective in challenging formations such as gravel, boulder layers, and hard rock. It delivers high-quality pile diameters, uniform wall profiles, and superior vertical accuracy. As a mud-free method, it represents an environmentally friendly innovation in pile-driving machinery.

Conclusion

The Drilling Power Head is a compact, versatile unit that integrates control, drive, and feed systems. With its adaptability, precision, and compatibility with multifunctional rigs, it has become an essential component in modern drilling applications. By offering stable performance and eco-friendly construction methods, it provides both technical efficiency and sustainability in pile-driving projects.
