Single-spindle automatic lathes are widely used, specialized machines designed for machining small precision parts. Basic Construction

Limitations

Single-spindle lathes are best suited for simple, rotary parts. They cannot handle complex irregular shapes, multi-curved surfaces, or non-standard threads. Adjusting the machine for new product models can be time-consuming, making these lathes ideal for long-term production of a single part rather than frequent product changes or small-batch multi-product runs.

While not highly automated, single-spindle automatic lathes remain indispensable for general precision small-part machining. Their reliability, efficiency, and stable mass production make them valuable in modern workshops. Understanding their structure, capabilities, and limitations allows operators to select the right machine, optimize production, and fully leverage its value.
