Maintenance and Care of CNC Swiss Lathe Machines
As more and more users adopt CNC swiss lathe machines to ensure production efficiency, product quality, and output, we can see that there are many important considerations during the operation of such equipment. If not operated correctly or if key details are overlooked, this may lead to interruptions in the production process.
Before starting the CNC swiss lathe for production and processing, users must thoroughly read the user manual for this industrial equipment, understand the operational principles, and follow the specified requirements and procedures for operation. The main contents of daily maintenance and care for CNC swiss lathes are as follows:

(1) Maintain a clean environment. Keep the CNC machine tool’s operating environment clean and tidy. Avoid excessive humidity, dust, and corrosive gases. This reduces wear and corrosion on the guideways and lead screws. It also prevents damage to electrical components and extends the machine’s lifespan.
(2) Keep the CNC swiss lathe clean. For CNC machine tool operators, maintaining machine tool cleanliness is an important part of their job responsibilities. It is essential to wipe down key areas (such as the worktable and control panel) once per shift change. At the end of the shift, clean the tool holder plate thoroughly with a soft cotton cloth and lubricate it to prevent corrosion. Perform a weekly cleaning of the entire machine, including the dust filters of the electrical cabinet cooling system, the filters of the compressed air system, and the chips in the coolant tank. Follow the machine tool manual for any additional cleaning requirements specific to certain components.
(3) Regularly inspect all parts of the machine tool. Inspect CNC machine tool safety components, including the hydraulic system, lubrication system, cooling system, emergency stop button, and travel limit switches. Identify and address any potential hazards. Regularly check drive belt wear and tension. Also, ensure the cleanliness of hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, and coolant. Also, inspect electric motors, circuit breakers, contactors, and relays. Make sure the cooling and ventilation devices of the CNC system and electrical cabinet are functioning properly. If any of these components fail, it can harm the operating environment and lead to equipment malfunctions.

(4) Prevent machine tools from operating with faults. Stop processing immediately when equipment malfunctions, especially mechanical faults. After analyzing and resolving the fault, resume operation. Never operate the machine tool with faults, as this may cause severe damage to the equipment.
(5) Timely adjustment. Prolonged operation can increase backlash in the lead screw. This reduces positioning accuracy and repeatability. Gaps may also form between the guideways and inserts, leading to lower precision. When such issues arise, timely adjustments must be made.
(6) Replace wear parts promptly. When components such as drive belts or bearings are damaged, they should be replaced promptly to prevent equipment damage or personal injury.

(7) Monitor grid voltage regularly. CNC systems typically allow grid voltage fluctuations within a 10% range. If the voltage exceeds this range, the system may malfunction or even be damaged. If grid voltage fluctuations are significant, do not start the CNC machine tool. Implement voltage stabilization measures (such as installing a voltage stabilizer) before using the CNC machine tool. Additionally, ensure reliable grounding of the machine tool to guarantee the safety of operators and equipment.
(8) Regularly replace the system memory battery. When the battery voltage in most CNC systems is insufficient, the system will issue an alarm prompt. Replace the battery promptly to prevent data loss during power outages. Perform the battery replacement with the system powered off and observe safety precautions.
(9) Maximize the machine tool’s utilization rate. Newly purchased CNC machine tools may experience more frequent faults during the initial usage period. Fully utilize the CNC machine tool during the warranty period to identify any weaknesses early and address them within the warranty period. Even without machining tasks, do not leave the machine unused. Power it on regularly, clamp the CNC tools in place, and run it idle for approximately one hour each time. This utilizes the heat generated during machine operation to remove or reduce humidity inside the machine, preventing rust and ensuring the machine’s service life.
